On March 29th, the China EV 100 Forum 2025 was held in Beijing. Academician Ya-Qin Zhang from the Tsinghua University Institute for AI Industry Research (AIR) attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech titled "Some Perspectives on Autonomous Driving". He stated that autonomous driving will become the largest embodied intelligent application in the next five years and is expected to usher in its "ChatGPT moment" this year. He mentioned that large models have accelerated the generalization of L4-level autonomous driving technology. The integration of multimodal perception technology with cloud and vehicle-end models can empower autonomous driving systems to make better decisions. In terms of technical approaches, he emphasized that vehicle intelligence should take precedence, with vehicle-road-cloud coordination serving as a supplementary measure. He also predicted that by 2030, 10% of new vehicles might possess L4-level autonomous driving capabilities.
