Yiming Rong is a distinguished visiting professor at Institute for AI Industry Research (AIR) in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He was the chiar professor and founding chair of Mechanical and Energy Engineering Department at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Shenzhen, China. Dr. Rong also worked as a faculty member with Tsinghua University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Southern Illinois University. His research area is on Manufacturing Processes and Systems. Particularly the research on Computer-aided Fixturing has been widely recognized worldwise. Dr. Rong has been the principal investigator of research projects funded by government agencies and industrial companies. In recent years, Dr. Rong has been much devoting into engineering education study, particularly implementing the project based learning to improve curriculum with the target on promoting young talents to innovation leaders. He is a fellow of ASME, and has published a few books and many technical papers in journals and conference proceedings.
