Robotic Construction Challenge

Introduction

The 2nd Robotic Construction Challenge (RCC 2026) will be held in conjunction with IROS 2026 in Pittsburgh, United States. The competition uses the Three Sisters Bridges as the local prototype and abstracts bridge piers, deck spans, and accessories into a standardized tabletop robotic construction task.

The challenge evaluates autonomous perception, grasping, placement, assembly, structural stability, and text-instruction following through two tracks: non-interlocking block bridge construction and interlocking block bridge construction. Each team may register for one track only, and rankings are determined separately for the two tracks.

Registration

Robotic Construction Challenge (RCC) is an international competition open to all university students. As long as you are passionate about robotic construction and eager to compete, it's time to register for RCC, which will be held at IROS 2026.

Registration Website: http://sim2real.net/track/track/?nav=RCC2026

Please notice that RCC is not a sim-to-real competition. It is necessary to use real-robot for practice and on-site competition.

Rules

RCC requires participants to program single or dual robotic arms to operate fully autonomously on the official competition workbench. The competition is divided into three independent stages. Within specified time limits, robots earn points by completing pier construction, bridge deck placement, and text-instruction accessory installation. Participants will ultimately be ranked based on their total score across all three stages.
